So today is Thanksgiving, what do people normally get up to?? Well I guess it’s all about feasting and grace innit?
In all honestly, besides knowing that people prepare huge meals with a turkey and give their thanks I knew nothing beyond that. It was only recently, because of friends that I made who celebrate the day, I had interest in reading a little about the day, it’s celebrated in a few countries, Canada celebrates it on the 1st Monday of October and the US on the 4th Thursday of November which is today. It’s that time of the year when families come together to give thanks for whatever they are grateful for.
So how do I feel about Thanksgiving?
I actually feel no different, I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s a normal day for me. This year however it’s kind of different, I got an invite to go out for a couple of drinks (mojitos) how do I feel? I’m not really sure how I feel but then again its Mojitos, how would you feel?
I would however one day love to be invited to one of those huge get together where Turkey matters. By Turkey here I mean the meat not that Turkey, the one that just pissed Russia off. I would love sit down and listen to what people are grateful for.
Do I celebrate Thanksgiving?
First of all I’m not American nor Canadians or whatsoever therefore I don’t really celebrate thanksgiving, I didn’t even know the dates differ according to whatever donkey reason they got until recently. So like I said, my thanksgiving dinner will be at a mojito bar, awesome ey!!! Mojitos all night. I will be accompanying some of my American friends who are far from home and can’t prepare dinner because of their work commitments.
I have actually been to this place we are going to tonight, it’s called Mojito Bar and Lounge they serve one of the best Mojitos in town, in town I mean HANOI – Vietnam (By far). I went there a while ago and managed to steal some snaps of their Mojitos and one of their famous drinks.
The most famous Cocktail from the Bar is the PHO COCKTAIL, it’s a must have to experience its uniqueness. The cocktails comprises of 5 secrets herbs, the Star Anise, Coriander, Chili, Cinnamon and Cao Guo and the local rice wine ran through a flame.
The also make the best Mojitos, Thursday nights are Happy Hour nights, cocktails cost like 50,000 VND
Anyway, I’m really grateful for everything that has happened in my life for the past 12 months. It has been a challenging and stressful journey and still is but nonetheless I’m grateful.
The following is the list of my grace:
- I’m grateful for the love and protection I have been getting from my heavenly father since forever til now
- I’m grateful for my family and friends’ love and support they give me in whatever I undertake, that is beyond measure.
- I’m grateful for all the people that I have met throughout my journey in Asia starting a new life and even before then, they make me grow.
- I’m grateful for all the little things that happen in my life, they amount to the greatest treasures.
- I’m grateful for the food, the beer, the plate, the internet every shit that’s been keeping me going for a while now.
And I’m thankful for the Mojito invite. Exactly 4 Thursdays away from Xmas and 5 from the New Year, 2015 is indeed coming to an end and there’s so much pressure on many including myself about our achievements and goals for the next year.
It has been a crazy year for me, a roller coaster and a whole lot of shit happened that is not worth mentioning (For now maybe)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING GUYS
